Why does mould return after painting?

A new coat of paint may fail if the source of moisture is still present.

Mould near a window, exterior wall or plumbing line can have different causes. Note where and when dampness appears, then inspect leaks, condensation and ventilation.

Repair the source and allow surfaces to dry appropriately before refinishing. If moisture returns, the building envelope, pipework and room use need another assessment.
